Wisconsin Still Fighting Union Busting Governor

By Nate Cook - Feb. 25, 2011

Wisconsin state workers and teachers are still out protesting at the capitol moves by republican governor Scott Walker to attempt to strip collective-bargaining rights from unions that protect state workers.

Just recently, the Wisconsin assembly (their version of the House) passed the budget bill that would cut these rights, and the bill moves onto the Senate. Senate Democrats, however, have left the state, refusing to cooperate with what they're calling dictatorial leadership.

Democrats claim that republicans are using their new majority to squeeze out the minority, and the democratic senators won't return to senate until the union-busting measure is dropped. As long as the 14 democratic Wisconsin senators stay in Illinois, there won't be a quorum for holding a vote on the measures.
