High Early Vote Turnout

By Ryan Kopf

Often a high voting turning demonstrates a dissatisfaction with the current administration. Well, the dissatisfaction with President Bush is obvious as his approval rating continue to hover in such low numbers. But we've seen record early voting numbers already this year, across the country, especially in battleground states.

What's the bigger story? Barack Obama is, and has been, ahead in national polls by more than five points for weeks. Although this race has been long and difficult, any change from this pattern would be next to impossible. Just ask the statistics magician at FiveThirtyEight.com, where Barack Obama is projected to win by around 96%.

Don't forget to vote in November, or at any of the available early vote locations. Early voting is available before all elections weekdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Johnson County Auditor's Office, 913 S. Dubuque St., Iowa City.
