Cocaine Supplier Ends Kickbacks, Goes Directly To Jail
A local businessman was arrested Monday by police officers after allegedly ending kickback contributions. Due to tight budget concerns, Johnson County police officers have decided to get creative with their fundraising efforts. Tapping into a unique niche market, officers chose instead of arresting a cocaine dealer, they would keep quiet as long as the department was cut 40% of the profits, money which was to go to purchase upgrades to area police equipment.
The arrangement went sour nearly a year after the arrangement began in August of 2008, and police officers arrested the dealer.
"We had a verbal contract," said one Iowa City Police Officer, "You can't just break a contract."
