Sex Offenders And Homeless Can Help Iowa City Economy
With the groundbreaking of the new Shelter House in Iowa City, residents can rest easier knowing they are being protected from current economic troubles. This new shelter will house many homeless individuals, possibly sex offenders, who provide benefit to any city. They don't drive cars to pollute our atmosphere or congest our roads, they don't waste their food, and they provide generous income to local bars and crack dealers.
"I'm excited about this," said Terry Pratt, owner of a downtown bar. "These homeless people earn money by recycling all the wasted aluminum cans around town, and then spend all their money on drinks. It's great for our economy."
Terry elaborated more on how they benefit our economy. "With the tough economy, people will spend less downtown. The extra homeless this shelter will bring into town will help offset that revenue - I can keep paying all our non-homeless employees. Then they can keep going shopping elsewhere, doing a small part in fighting this recession."
