Pizza on Dubuque

By Ryan Kopf - May. 19, 2008

Walking into this tiny Iowa City pizza joint I was quickly caught by the aroma of fresh dough, as the guy behind the counter was preparing something fresh. And although the table I happened to sit at still had rings from the cups of the last patrons (which had likely been at least an hour ago), the savory look of the pizza behind the counter kept me there.

Almost blisteringly hot, our pizza was delivered straight to our table - featuring the right blend of crunch crust with a warm, cheesy, soft taste on top. The Mt. Dew too was good and unlike some fountain drinks actually tasted like quality Mountain Dew.

The upstairs houses what might be an interesting place for a meeting, despite the algae-filled, greenish fishtank. They had couches, which looked like a 6.5 on the 0-10 cleanliness scale, arranged in a circle around a table in the upstairs area. (We thought it would be a fantastic idea if they put something like Nintendo Wii up there).

Overall the pizza was good, and the waiter was friendly. But beyond that, the prices were no killer either. For a friend and I, two slices of cheese large enough to fill each stomach and two fountain drinks totaled an even $9.00. Refills were included, and the businesses rejected the penny by including sales tax in their prices.

Item Cost
Slice of Cheese Pizza $3.00
Slice of Veggie Pizza $3.50
Slice of Meat Pizza $3.50
Drink $1.50
