Coldstone Creamery - Costly Creamery

By Ryan Kopf - May. 28, 2008

"Welcome to Coldstone Creamery," cheered the smiling young college girl behind the counter as I entered this unique looking ice cream and slushie place. The elegant design of the inside was complemented by the creamery-like smell wafting through the air.

My “mint mint chocolate chocolate chip” ice cream was thick and rich, filled with minty flavor, chocolate chips, and pieces of brownie. Their other options were overly tempting as well, with interesting choices ranging from ice cream cake and sundaes, to Mountain Dew Iced(TM) and smoothies of all sorts.

However tempting the sweets found here at Coldstone Creamery in Iowa City might be, the exorbitant prices laughed at my tiny budget. My 'medium' overly minty chocolaty chipy ice cream wound up being more than $5 – which would have bought me enough for an entire lunch over at Pizza on Dubuque. Their other stuff was also wildly expensive – water was even $1.50 (tiny ice cream cakes that 'serve 8' were $20).

So don't expect to Come to Coldstone Creamery and leave with any Cash left, but you just might leave with some rich tasting ice cream.
