Under the shade the temperature hovered around in the calm, cool 70s, with the occasional breeze wiping away any sweat from direct sunlight. The sun beat down hard, though, in the areas unprotected from it's brightness.
As a result of the gorgeous weather, hundreds of locals turned out for Iowa City 4th of July celebrations. There were a couple dozen tents offering art and food from area vendors, and four stages presenting local music, college music, youth music, and then the main stage. This year's Fourth of July events were part of the larger Toyota-Scion of Iowa City Jazz Festival, which spans from July 4th through July 6th.
